Digital Imaging
At Looysen I Care, PC we offer digital retinal photography to ALL of our patients during their comprehensive eye health examination. This advanced technology produces a detailed photographic image of your retina. These pictures are necessary to document any abnormalities of the health of the optic nerve, retinal blood vessels and macula.
To take high-resolution pictures inside the eye, we use a state of the art computer-integrated digital imaging system to record a detailed view of the retina. Since nothing touches the eye, photo-documentation is painless.
This digital image provides an excellent reference point for Dr. Looysen in future comparisons. |
Retinal photography also assists Dr. Looysen in the detection and management of problems such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, hypertensive retinopathy, optic nerve disease and retinal holes or thinning. These diseases can ultimately lead to partial loss of vision or even complete blindness.
We recommend that ALL of our patients receive this test. It is especially important for people with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, retinal diseases, flashing lights, floaters, headaches or for people with a high glasses prescription.
If there are no abnormalities in these photos and we are not able to submit the charge to your insurance, there will be a fee of $21 billed to the patient. If we submit the charges to your medical insurance provider, they may either pay the charge in full, OR we may bill you for your co-insurance or co-payment amount.
